  1. What is the origin of Whole Body Cryotherapy? Whole Body Cryotherapy was originally developed by Dr. Toshiro Yamauchi in Japan in 1978 who was treating pain and inflammation in his patients with rheumatoid arthritis.  It has been extensively studied and refined in Europe since that time.
  2. How does Whole Body Cryotherapy Work? The Cryosauna uses gasiform nitrogen to lower the client's skin surface temperature from normal body temperature to 30-32 degrees in 30 seconds or less and keeps it that way for two-three minutes. The skin reacts to the cold and sends a powerful message to the brain that acts as a stimulant to all regulatory functions of the body. It produces the scanning of all areas that may not be working to their fullest potential.
  3. Is nitrogen gas dangerous to human beings? No, it isn't. Nitrogen is completely friendly gas. Air that we breathe is made up of 16% Oxygen, 1% Hydrogen, 78% Nitrogen and 5% of other components.

  4. How do I feel after? During each session endorphines, or the body's natural "feel good" substance, are released. The buoyant effects from each session last at least six hours.

  5. Can I catch a cold because of this procedure? Immediate cold impact of the cryosession will raise the internal body temperature up to 104F for a short period of time (around 30-40 sec). This rise has a positive effect on chills and may help to fight the cold...

  6. I am claustrophobic. Can I use the Cryosauna? Yes, you may. The door is never locked and you can step out at any moment. Also, the stage inside the cabin is adjusted to keep your head outside and over the edge of the cabin at all times.

  7. Do I have to take a shower before and/or after the procedure? No, you don't! This procedure is absolutely dry and does not make your skin wet!

  8. Who is it recommended for? Whole Body Cryotherapy benefits everybody from elite athletes, those seeking weight loss and skin rejuvenation to people with chronic and inflammatory medical conditions.  Younger clients, age 14 and older can  use Whole Body Cryotherapy with parent’s consent.

  9.  Who should not use Whole Body Cryotherapy? Whole Body Cryotherapy is not recommended (contraindicated) for those persons with the following conditions: Pregnancy, acute myocardial infarction (MI), unstable angina pectoris, arrhythmia, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, cardiac pacemaker, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, venous thrombosis (blood clots), acute cerebrovascular accident, uncontrolled seizures, Raynaud’s Syndrome, symptomatic lung disorders, bleeding disorders, severe anemia, cold allergy, acute kidney diseases and severe Hypertension (BP>180-100).  Clients should always check with their medical providers regarding  their particular medical status.
